Oslo Town Hall Reflection
Photographing people when they are reflected in puddles is a fun exercise, although sometimes you are caught! This shot is flipped both horisontally and vertically, to create the impression that the camera was standing on the ground, and to make the Town Hall look like…. well, the Town Hall. With the clock on the right [...]
Texture and Stone
Every week we have an informal mini-competition in Oslo Kamera Klubb. Yesterday I came in third with this shot of a car hood. A building is reflected in both the car hood and the front window of a car. Texture can also be smooth like a clean car hood. Earlier this autumn i also got [...]
Turn windows into reflective mirrors
It can be done with any large window if the light is right. Place your camera sideways, as close as you can to a glass window and you will see it turn into a mirror.
It’s all about balancing the light
The buddha is placed inside the window of a shop, and the building is behind me but reflected in the window. With reflections it is all about balancing the light between two or more planes in the image. I had been waiting for the sun to light up the building in the background – so [...]
The streets of Oslo
Another reflection shot with the dolls inside the shop and a woman passing by behind me. For this to work there has to be a balanced amount of light between the dolls and the person passing by.
Reflections mini-workshop with my camera club
This week two professional photographers joined us on Oslo Kamera Klubb’s weekly walk. The theme was “Reflections” – which presently happens to be my favourite subject. First they told us what to look for and then followed us on the walk and later we all met up at the club to go through the results.
Reflection in an old photograph
This is a reflection in a photo of my great grandmother Anna. The focus is set on the reflection. What is reflected must be light enough to be visible in the picture. I chose an angle that placed the reflection in a dark area of the old photograph. Here the light from the window lights [...]
Car hood reflection
An early sunny morning after a rainy night. Reflections generally work better when what is reflected is lit up by the sun. In this case the low sun lights up the building. What I like about this shot is that in addition to the car and the building, there is a third “level”, namely the [...]
Spray Painting
The temperature in Oslo is below the freezing point through most of January. Sometimes this playground is generously transformed into an ice skating range. The reflection is only there as long as the water is actually wet. As the water freezes, the reflection disappears. The building across the square is reflected in the water, luckily [...]
